Teddy Bear Hospital
Teddy Bear Hospital, a one-week project in which children from the 3rd grade of kindergarten and the 1st grade of primary school visit the Ghent University Hospital to become acquainted with the medical world. Our goal is to eliminate their fear of doctors or a hospital environment.
The children take their teddy bear with them, but it turns out to be injured. Medical students care for the teddy bears, together with the help of the children. Ultimately, even a visit to the Red Cross ambulance is possible!
The schools come in the morning or afternoon, so volunteer students can register for half a day. This year the project will take place from February 27 to March 3, 2023.
Anyone can register as a volunteer, no in-depth medical knowledge is required. This is the ideal opportunity for students to improve their interactions with children in a medical setting; but especially the enthusiasm, eagerness to learn and creativity of the children gives a very good feeling afterwards.
