Teddy Bear Hospital, a 5 day project where children from the 3rd kindergarten and the 1st grade of primary school visit UZ Ghent to get acquainted with the medical world. Our goal is to eliminate their fear of doctors or a hospital environment.
The children take their teddy bear with them, but it seems to be injured. Medical students take care of the teddy bears, along with the help of the children. Eventually, even a visit to the ambulance of the Red Cross is possible!
Schools can come for a 2 hour session in the Teddy Bear Hospital. Students can register to help one or multiple afternoons. This year Teddy Bear Hospital will take place from 27/02 – 03/03.
Everyone can apply as volunteer, there is no in-depth medical knowledge necessary. For students, this is the ideal occasion to improve their interaction with children in a medical setting. But it is just as much the enthusiasm, eagerness to learn and creativity from the children that is rewarding for the students working on the project.
