Are you interested in a foreign experience in July or August? Would you like to carry out scientific research? Are you curious about how research affects a foreign university? Are you fascinated by other cultures and do you want to become friends with students all over the world?

On this page you will find all the information you need for the 4 weeks research exchange program this summer.

What is SCORE?

SCORE (Standing Committee on Research Exchange) organises foreign research exchanges in English or French. SCORE is an international program of the IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations), the umbrella organisation of BeMSA. It is organised in more than 100 countries, spread all over the world. This Standing Committee allows students to participate in a 4 week research project in one of the countries Belgium has signed a contract with.

During the internship, the local committee of every city provides accommodation, 1 meal per (week)day, a social program and a contact person.

The contact person accompanies an incoming student: he/she is the person that you can contact when there is a problem, who will welcome you at the airport or the train/bus station, show you the hospital and who can give you tips on the social program.

The social program is very place-dependent: sightseeing, partying, cultural activities, etc. In short, you will be immersed in your project during the days, but the evenings and weekends will be full of fun.

  • You acquire a lot of scientific knowledge and skills.
  • You get to know other cultures and learn how to deal with cultural differences.
  • You expand your horizon and discover new perspectives of the world we live in.
  • You make friends for life from all corners of the world.
  • You experience a unique, fantastic month that is not only very educational but also fun.

In short: it is an experience that you will never forget!!!

For whom?

Send your motivation letter, CV and your preferred countries with respective projects (also motivate your choices) to before 23.59 pm on the 2nd of november 2019. In your motivation letter you have to tell us about your experiences within BeMSA, volunteering work, youth movement, social work, whether or not you’ve been a contact person in Belgium, etc. You must convince us that you are socially involved and that you have the right profile for the exchange! You also need to inform us about the year of study you are currently in.

The best candidates per university will be invited for a (Skype) interview (held on the 16th and 17th of November 2019) which aims to test the English or French (or other language if it's required) language proficiency and to query the student’s motivation.

The announcement of the assigned country will take place on November 18th, 2019.
